    And it stopped working again This is very frustrating - even the new iTunes 11.0.1 doesn't fix the problem.


    Can't believe they haven't fixed this yet, there must be more people with this problem??

    Apple helped me fix my inability to completely sync my iPhone and iPad earlier this week. I had been using iToner by Ambrosia and the plug-in was interfering with being able to install updated or new apps to my devices. Removing the plug-in solved the problem.


    Perhaps you have a plug-in issue as well.

    I checked, no plug-ins installed. This is getting more and more strange - the iPad syncs if I select new items in Books, Photos, TV Shows, Movies or Music. However, it just stops during "Syncing Apps" when I don't select anything new - and it also happens when I make any changes to Apps in iTunes.

    I had a bit of luck with this.  It seems that the settings reset after updating to the new itunes.  I restored the sidebar (View menu) so I could open the device sync settings and the "Sync Books" setting was now unchecked.  Checked it and re-synced...all good.  Hope this helps.

    I was fine until I just updated iTunes (awesome timing on that one) so I could put a movie I wanted to watch on my ipad while wrapping gifts. My computer and iphoto recognize that the ipad is there just fine, but iTunes flat out refuses to believe it exists. So now tinkering with the router and firewall to see if that solves it. GL!

    Unfortunately still no proper solution in sight. I can get new photos or books to sync if I add them, but it just won't sync any apps or playcounts. Very strange.


    This is over USB and WiFi, no difference.


    All my other devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPad 2) sync totally fine.

    i have had your same issue, i got Ipad 3 and i couldnt sync it with iTunes 11, connect with older virgin of itune in other computer and sign with your apple id, try to make any action, then back to your iTunes 11 and sync it will works.

    Is it a reasonable assumption that anyone with an iPad 3 (like me) should not update to iTunes 11.0.x yet?  I'm still running iTunes 10.7 (2.1).

    MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM running OS 10.7.5

    iPad 3 64GB (wifi only) running iOS 6.0.1

    iPhone 4S 8GB running iOS 6.0.1

    Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't have easy access to an older iTunes, but will see if I can somehow figure it out.


    If I can't get this to work within the next couple of weeks, I will take it to the Genius Bar.

    I have this same problem to TeeTw0 in the original post: "I upgraded to iTunes 11 yesterday and now I can't get back my iPad 3 to sync. It is being recognized and shows up in iTunes, but when I click the "Sync" button, it starts syncing, backs up okay but also quits in the middle of "Determining which Apps to sync (Step 4/7)". There's no error message, it just stops."


    However, I have a Windows PC and iPad 1 (with IOS 5). Backs up fine. Music syncs fine. But apps (including updates) only sync one way - from PC/iTunes to iPad, but not other way around.


    My wife has the same problem. However, I have just realised that she is still syncing to iTunes 10.7 on a different windows PC. So whilst her sync problem started when I installed iTunes 11 on my PC, the root cause can't be iTunes 11 (or IOS 6 for that matter) so it must be something else.


    I am about to unwind our PCs to previous restore points and see what happens.

    i had your same issue and i swaer that i solve it

    go to any of your friend who have iTune 10, sign in by your ID and sync your Ipad (minimum one app), those applications you got from your friend's iTuen probably not working in your iPad or not authorized, so after you do this step, back to your iTune 11 and remove your friend apps, and strat sync with your ID and it will work.

    I have the same problem with iPad Mini and iPhone 5 (using iTunes 11.0.1 and Mountain Lion). Both devices show up in iTunes, backup is starting and finishing and during app synchronisation the process just stops. New music, movies, books etc. aren't synced at all. I tried resetting the iTunes Cache (as I read somewhere else), reinstalling iTunes and restarting the devices with no change at all.


    I'm reluctant to reset my devices because I have no chance of getting content on them, if my problem isn't solved by resetting them.

    Further to my previous post about the sync issues my wife and I were having, my daughter has also recently bought herself a new apple mac air and has an apple iphone 4. It has the same the same sync issues as my wife and I. Given that I have the same sync issues consistently over different computers (PC and Mac) and different IOS devices, I have come to conclude that iTunes 11 is syncing as intended. I don't like the changes Apple have introduced, but I guess I will just have to accept and adapt to them!


    How syncing in iTunes 11 seems to work is as follows:

    - updates and new purchases on IOS devices do not sync to the computer automatically anymore.

    - you can initiate this manually by selecting in iTunes on the PC "File - Devices - Transfer Purchases" on PC (and something similar on the Mac).

    - updates on the PC still sync to the device as you would expect.

    - new purchases will also sync across to the device from iTunes if you have the "sync new apps" selected in the apps page on the device page in iTunes.


    However, in previous versions it used to ask if you wanted to delete items from your device if not on the PC, this feature appears to have been removed. This means that if you want to get rid of games permanently from your device and iTunes, you now have to delete them manually from both at the same time.


    So to make syncing work for me in iTunes 11 like it did in previous versions, I will:

    - remember to force updates from the device to the PC

    - then delete apps from both PC and device at the same time.

    Sign in in older version of itune, like 10.7 and go back to itune 11 and it will work.
