Hi all

I am looking for a maintainance program for my mac. i have heard that Onyx Mac is ok. I am a little concerned about downloading it without any recommendations. Does anyone have any feedback or know any reason why i shouldnt get it.

Thanks

The question is why do you feel your iMac needs a maintenance app. In most cases everything that needed is already integrated right into OS X. While Onyx isn't a bad app it can create issues if you don't know exactly what you're doing. Please state why you think your machine needs some maintenance and someone can recommend which utility is needed or be able to tell you why it's not necessary with OS X. My guess is you may have recently come from the MS Windows world where third party apps are necessary to keep Windows running OK, with OS X that isn't the case.

Thanks for the reply.

I have only had the imac for 10 months and am still finding my way around it.

I have noticed that it is a little slower recently.

As an ex windows user i always found clearing out all the old unused files kept it running better.

so i was looking to do the same.

I assume from your comments that this gets asked alot,

How do you go about this without the use of utility programs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same applies to the Mac but you don't need a third-party utility to do that - just delete them.

How much free space do you have left on your hard drive? That is the important question.
