Trouble burning dvd and syncing audio

Having trouble burning a 30 minute dvd containing photos and ten 1 minute videos saved from IPhoto. Using IDVD 7.0.4 to burn, the audio does not sync on the created dvd. That occurs in the latter portion. So, after reading Old Toad's reply on another post, from IDVD I saved it first to a disc image and it played perfectly on my Mac OS X. Next burned to a dvd using Toast and Disk Utility. Same problem. Any suggestions?

Hi

Just to get this clear (as I'm not native in English)

You made a "Save as a DiskImage" ?

It played well with DVD-player tool (on Your Mac) ?

You burned this DiskImage via Toast™ or Disk Util tool ?

This DVD doesn't keep audio in sync when played on standard DVD-player ? ?

That would be extremely strange. If the image works then the copy of it onto a DVD (via Toast or Disk Util tool) also should work. Copy via DeskTop will result in a Data-DVD - a very different creature.

And if You burned from Movie (not the .img file) via Toast™ then the problem would persist I guess.

What

• DVD Brand do You use - YES it matters

• DVD type ? DVD-R or +R or even +/-RW

• Burn Speed set down to x2 or x4 - or NOT ?

• Free Space on Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk ? important - How much ?

• What Video-Codec was Your movie material in ?

• Photos used ? - in what file format ?

• Audio added ? - in what file format ? (I only use .aiff - NO .mp3 or direct from iTunes - but via .aiff first)

Yes to all your first questions.

The audio gets out of sync towards end of dvd (even when I separate them in 2 files) using both iDVD burn or via DiskImage. Audio also stops, pauses, then starts new file incorrectly, with total audio ending too soon.

DVD brand = Memorex DVD+RW, have had previous successes with this brand

Speed with Toast = best, with Disk Utility = x 2

Space available - 140 GB

Video - Codec - don't understand. Videos taken on Olympus digital camera, are MPEG4 movies, less than 1 minute.

Photos in JPEG

Audio from iTunes, MPEG format - these were copied from cd's

OK

You do this in another way than I do.

DVD brand = Memorex DVD+RW, have had previous successes with this brand

• Memorex is a known problem maker - especially when doing Video-DVDs (Data-DVDs use to work)

- I only use Verbatim

• DVD+RW or all RW use to NOT WORK and DVD+R use to play on modern DVD-players not old ones

- I only use DVD-R

Speed with Toast = best, with Disk Utility = x 2

- I always set Burn Speed to x2 or ev. x4 - never Best or High

Space available - 140 GB

- OK - my minimum is 25GB for interlaced SD-Material and about 4.-5 times more when HD-material is included

• Open the Movie file with QuickTime player and open Inspector [cmd+I] and read

Video Format : nnnnnnnnnnnn

Frames per second : yyyyyyyyyyy

- I don't think iDVD or Toast™ likes .mpeg4 - I only use StreamingDV .dv

Photos in JPEG

• Me too - never ever .bmp or other formats - I use GraphicConverter to get them all into .jpg

Audio from iTunes, MPEG format - these were copied from cd's

• YES THIS I GUESS IS THE PROBLEM

• In iTunes I collect all needed audio into a New Playlist

This I Burn out as an Audio-CD - .aiff - NEVER .mp3 or other formats. This works (and I have near to zero problems with my audio)

That was the full list as far as I can answer/suggest
