AppleTv needing ridiculous time to stream a movie from my library

There is no way it can be normal for Apple Tv to tell me its going to take 7hrs and 45 minutes to prepare a movie that is already downloaded and in my iTunes library, RIGHT?? If this is normal this is a failure. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do (other than lower the video resolution)? It's on my Hard drive how in the world would anyone wait almost 8 hours to set up to watch a movie that took 11 hours to download, this is insane. Must be something I'm missing. Firewall doesn't appear to be the issue. Any suggestions are welcome. THX

That's really slow all around.

Are you wired or wireless at one end or both ends? If wireless try wired [if possible] and see if the issue still exists.

Are you pulling the movie up directly from the A-TV or trying to AirPlay it from the computer.. I always skip the AirPlay and pull it up directly from the A-TV via my server.

I've never had anything nearly of what you're describing, but when it seems to start slowing down for me a re-boot of modem and router speeds it right back up.

I have the same issue with home movies. Interestingly I was able to start playback immediately for my first video. I stopped it and selected another video and all i get is the progress indicator. I then have the same problem for any movie or audio track.

I'm using Windows 8 Pro w/AppleTV 3rd gen.
