New verson of iTunes continues to freeze for about 10-15 seconds when searching for a library item starting with the letter 'a' only. No other letter seems to have a problem. Was working fine yesterday with previous version.
Also - not a big fan of the new look. The previous version was fine - why change what wasn't broken!

Frankly, I find iTunes 11 horrible. It subtracts good things, complicates the interface, and adds nothing of value.
I also cannot start a search with the letter "a." Well, I can, but it takes 25 seconds for the drop down to load. I wonder if the bug's only affecting people who have large libraries.
I have found a workaround:
1. Click on the search icon on the left side of the search bar
2. Uncheck "Search Entire Library"
This turns off the drop down results. Search will work as it did in iTunes 10 (or similar enough anyway). You can now start your searches with the letter "a" 🙂.

My macbook pro and imac are freezing when I search for something starting with "a" as well and so far, no matter how long I wait, they dont recover. My PC freezes up as well for about two minutes then recovers.
It would appear that a larger library would be the problem.

Got the same problem. iTunes 11 hands for a minute or something when I start searching for something that starts with 'a'. Don't really have a large library. Some of the files are on my NAS though.
I can confirm that uncontrite's workaround works (as I had disabled the instant results in favor of the more logical traditional search results method.
However, it takes much longer than it did in any other iTunes version, and you have to stop typing for a moment.
They mave have deigned it from the groud up, but they didn't optimize the code much.
Totally agrees, Itunes 11 is so messed up. does anyone have the installer for Itunes 10.7 ???

15 seconds! I have a large library and it hangs for several minutes if I type in "a". Thanks for the workaround, but it is still dead slow. What were Apple thinking with this release? Basically iTunes used to be the best, fastest music player but it is time to look elsewhere methinks.
I have a huge library and iTunes 11 takes forever to load and when it does it freezes when i search for a song and after a couple of minutes i get bumbed out due to an uknown error. I uninstalled and then re installed it but the problem continues. HEEELP
