The release of iTunes 11 has broken the play counter for music tracks. When an audio track is played, the last play date and play count are not updated which means that the Played Today and other smart lists do not update. The values are updated for video files, and they are updated when played from Apple TV. This is a very bad regression bug unless I missed a new setting that turns this off in the preferences?

I tried this and it didn't solve the problem.
I had to pause and restart my music before it took effect.

This issue is repaired in iTunes 11.0.1
It actually does not seem to be repaired in iTunes 11.0.1. When I turned the crossfade function back on then the songs stopped updating.
I have Crossfade already turned off.

I keep getting plays=0 for some songs, today 9 more were changed.
Playcounts being reset to 0 is a different issue. With the Crossfade feature turned on the playcounts do not increase, they remain the same as they were and are not reset to 0.
