Can I expand my ROM with the sd card slot?13 inch Mid 2009 MBP w Mountain lion

I have a MBP with only 160 GB ROM/ 2GB RAM. It was good for the longest time, but I've noticed with mountain lion I have severely lost speeds with loading applications of all kinds. I'm looking to upgrade to higher RAM and ROM, and need to know the cheapest way about doing so...also, if possible for a DYI I may also look into upgrading processors if possible and economical.

Do you know what ROM is? Read Only Memory. Now you mean you need a larger hard drive. Peruse this web site:

No. Just buy more RAM and larger hard drive.

Read-only memory (ROM) is a class of storage medium used in computers and other electronic devices. Data stored in ROM cannot be modified, or can be modified only slowly or with difficulty, so it is mainly used to distribute firmware (software that is very closely tied to specific hardware, and unlikely to need frequent updates).

Yea dick I know what rom is. I am wondering if I can add to rom with a sdxc, not alter my current hd. I have 160 gb hd but wasn't for sure if I can add space with the card.

Apparently you don't if you're still looking to add storage in addition to your hard drive. By adding storage you'll no doubt want to write to it...which you can't on Read Only Memory

I apologize for being out of line to both of you. I obviously did not understand what rom actually was. I was aware that rom was read only and ram is random access. I thought maybe I could run a parallel with the added storage and the hd. Once again to both of you I am sorry.

If you're looking for added storage, the I'd suggest simply replacing the hard drive with a larger one and then max out the RAM. For the best performance I'd recommend an SSD instead of a hard drive, but they're obviously more expensive.

where can i find the dimensions and rpms my mbp can handle? i see there is 2.5'' and 3.5'' hdd at rpms of 5400 and 7200...will the rpms affect the laptop differently, or is it only capable of using only one of the two?

and is it possible to upgrade processors? i currently have 2.26 ghz intel core 2 duo
