Q: is there driver support for my epson perfection 2400 photo scanner with mountain lion osx

You will need to update the Epson Drivers via Apple.

Run Software update. Connect and turn on your printer then go to system preferences print and scan and see if the printer now shows up.

If not go to Apple Support downloads and download this Epson File:

After installing the software update the scanner still does not work. It seems that they no longer support the older scanners. There are many people complaining about it.

I did this and the update REMOVED the negative scanning functionality from the scanner software. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Apparently my Mac now thinks the scanner is a Perfection 2400 and not a Perfection 2400 PHOTO.

I have the same problem i.e. I can no longer scan positives (slides) or negatives. I contacted Epson and they said it was up to Apple to provide the updated software. This is a real drag.
