Jul 12, 2013 5:00 PM in response to Machine Not Fooledby Imp68,If this is intentional on apple's part, why is it I only have 2 albums from itunes purchases, out of about 30GB of music, still in my library without issue?

Jul 12, 2013 11:52 PM in response to elvenqueen86by aim46aim46,I still have my music/videos, but if i go to the itunes store it deleted all my music VIDEO purchases. Also no album artwork is showing up on the albums themselves, however it is showing up on each song on my iphone.

Aug 2, 2013 12:46 PM in response to elvenqueen86by mrk172,Apple, this is ridiculous. I spent years organising my music, making playlists, there is no way you can return all that to me.
It was silly of those of us who did not keep a backup, but such a serious bug is completely unacceptable. Clearly there are many people facing the same problem, yet I have not seen a single official reply from you guys.
You should be ashamed of your incompetence.
Uninstalling iTunes forever.

Aug 23, 2013 7:37 AM in response to elvenqueen86by Machine Not Fooled,my last post was deleted by the moderator "because it contained a non-constructive rant or complaint"
ok, maybe that's completely true but how's about that moderator contribute a constructive comment about why all my music was deleted without warning? How's about a single acknowlegment from Apple that their update erases personal data? How's about a polite apology? Of course not because that would admit that Apple did something wrong.
Still not constructive? Don't trust Apple. That's the most constructive suggestion I can come up with.

Why should they post here in the user-to-user forums?
They are simply moderators of the forum, not Apple tech support. -
Aug 29, 2013 6:11 PM in response to elvenqueen86by bksk8ter,Im a DJ and this happened right before a gig and there went over 100,000 songs down the drain and my gig was ruined.

Sep 13, 2013 6:06 AM in response to elvenqueen86by kathryn211,I tried a System Restore and found this solved the problem completely. I have Windows 7, so I don't know about Macs, but this worked for me. Everything's back to normal, no problem with any of my music any more!! Just go to the control panel on your pc and it'll point you from there. Seriously annoyed with Apple for this though - such a serious glitch!!

Sep 13, 2013 6:08 AM in response to mrk172by kathryn211,Try a System Restore of your pc. It goes back to before you installed the latest version of iTunes, and when I did it I found all my music was back to normal too. I will definitely be keeping a back-up now though!!

You don't keep a backup with you, ready to go?
Sounds like something you should consider.

The problem with doing a complete system, restore is you lose anything on your computer added after the backup was made.
Make a separate backup of the /Music/iTunes/ folder.

Sep 24, 2013 2:48 AM in response to Madunby chrissy dideriksen,I have lost over 20gb of music/podcasts from my library. I have followed these instructions:
This works:
A detailed tutorial:
- Go to the iTunes folder (For me, it's Libraries/Music/iTunes
- Delete the file "iTunes Library.itl" (You could also just put it in a backup folder in case this doesn't work for you)
- Rename "iT 1.tmp" to "iTunes Library.itl". Even though you change the extension, it still works.
- Open up iTunes and you should be back to normal! To be sure, do a search for the last thing you imported.
Also if purchased music will still not let you use it, simply drag all folder from your iTunes Media folder back into itunes, any very recent additions to the library may need to be imported again. Apple lizards

The process reinstated the file names but NOT the actual files. I cannot find the files anywhere on my computer. I am so sad. Many of these things are irreplaceable.

What if there are no .tmp files (there shouldn't be any))?
