iTunes won't download on my PC

I tried downloading iTunes to my Windows Vista 32-bit computer and I got an error at the end of the installation that said "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". Its a fresh new .exe file directily from the apple website and it doesn't work, plus i cannot contact apple because when i file for support help i have to enter a "seriel number" i entered the one for PC, but its deisgned for Mac's so i cant get help from them. Does anyone know what the problem is and/or know how to fix it? Thanks.

I've tried that but then this message comes up, "The feature you are tryingto use is on a network resource that is unavilable. Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containg the installation package AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi in the box below" And it gave me 2 options to choose and both of them dont work, I have to idea where this would be and i looked in all the folders under Apple and Apple Computer in the C:/Program Data. So I don't know how to fix that now!

I have found the problem, if anyone has this problem use the Microsoft fixit APPLICATION, make sure you use that here is a link to it (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall) use that and click the option that it detects the problem and you choose what to fix and then it'll take some time to detect problems, then click the option where you have trouble installing things and then it will pop up with a list of installers and click the Apple Software Update, that was the source of the problem for me. And itll run a diagnostics and then itll ask if you would like to fix it and then click yes and itll fix it for you! I now have iTunes 😀
