AppleTV Not Responding (Stuck On Home Screen)

I found the problem. The most recent update locks your remote. Hold down menu and reverse simultaneously for 6 seconds. I just wasted a half hour on this crap and I'm REALLY mad.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I too was having problems and now my issue is resolved through holding the left arrow key and menu button for just over 6 seconds. I can now use my remote again and my Apple TV, just as I was about to throw it in the bin.

Thank you! First time it's happened to us. We got an update a few days ago, and the device would not respond to the remote, no matter what we did. Tried your suggestion...and voila! Am writing this down, so we don't forget.

You are awesome! I know this is an old post but it saved me today. I restarted and unplugged this darn thing a million times, even left it unplugged overnight and it was still frozen. It let me play from my ipad/iphone through apple mirroring but that was it. Tried this and it worked like magic!! Thanks so much!

Mines doing the same thing. The unit boots up, but will not respond to any commands. Eventually, the screensaver activates but i cannot exit it.

This is crappy! I just want to watch TV!

What do you mean by "hit reverse"?

On the directional pad hold down the back position (left).

I was just about to get rid of my atv for the jynx box. you just saved me $100 thanks mchrome
