Refreshing iTunes, after adding metadata

I am going through and updating metadata for my entire iTunes music and movie library. However I have found that the updates will not taken effect unless I play the music or movie in iTunes, which creats duplicates. I was wondering if there is a "refresh" command within iTunes. I think it is "Command Y" in other programs. Basically I am needing a way to tell iTunes to go back and update your

I presume you are using an external editor? iTunes will not update until it has reason to more closely inspect the files. Some have suggested doing something such as dragging a playlist to another playlist but then returning it back so it doesn't really copy but it starts to look at files. This didn't work for me. I did find an Applescript on the web that refreshes tags. The thing is it is horribly slow and not the kind of thing you want to run on a whole library unless you do it overnight.

Just select the file after using Identify and select Apple -I to get info on the file, this is enough to refresh without playin he file. Tags, info and artwork are refreshed. There is an issue with the latest version where it does not update parental guidance ratings. They are working on a fix but in the meantime just put a space in the rating annotation field below the cinema rating field in Identify and it will save the rating.

A short term workaround until the developer gets the new version in the store to download.
