iTunes 11 Get Album Artwork does not work anymore

After update, Get Album Artwork stopped working.

I use iTunes Match. I logged out and logged back in (as others suggested) and no luck.

Anyone else had this issue? anyone knows how to fix it? iTunes used to give me an error when couldn't find artwork too. I renamed a track and tried Get Album Artwork. did not give me error either.

You can still ask the iTunes Store for album artwork by right-clicking on an individual album and selecting, "Get Album Artwork." Hope that helps!

I'm not having an issue with this feature, but I find that iTunes hangs and becomes unresponsive when I attempt to Get Info and manually edit the artwork for audio and video files in my library. I've had to force-quit several times.

Worse yet, it seems to corrupt the artwork feature in the file, as when I go back in after relaunching the artwork tab is grayed out... but the artwork isn't there.

*Viable Workaround: Right click on song title and get album artwork, not on album logo.

I had the same problem and realized it only didn't work when I right clicked the album logo and chose get album artwork, nothing happened.

However when I did that on an individual song, it worked like a charm. The artwork gets applied to whole album.

I guess a tiny bug involed in trying it on the actual album logo.

Nope, that didn't work for me either.

But I can say this: All my music was in the cloud. ie, I had the cloud icon beside all the albums I was trying to "get album artwork" on (I use iTunes Match).

Every time I clicked "get album artwork", iTunes - bless it's arrogant soul - responded with nothing. Nothing happened. No message. No status.

So I tried this: I first downloaded just 1 track from the album in question, from the cloud (no need to download them all, I prefer to keep my music in the cloud).

Then I followed danno2022's suggestion of right-clicking that track (not the whole album) and selecting "Get album artwork". And voila! iTunes artwork retrieval function sputtered to life, and it downloaded the artwork for the entire album!

Another tip: always make sure your album is named exactly the same as the one for sale in the iTunes Store (and that it is actually available in the iTunes Store you are using - every country practically has a different store, and the content varies between them) - otherwise iTunes will never retrieve the artwork.

(Most of you probably know that already, it's pretty much iTunes Madness 101.)

cheers,

Super frustrating issue and I am not sure if the fix for this came in 11.0.3, but the following worked for me:

1.) Create new Smart Playlist based on "Album Artwork is false"

2.) Go to said SP

3.) Select All

4.) Get Album Artwork

If you are like me, this will take a while, but iTunes will churn away and get the Album Artwork for all tracks associated. You can confirm the album artwork has successfully been updated by visiting any of the problem albums/files, but you will also see that they don't show up in the SP any longer becaus they are now set to true.

One problem you may still have is that if your album is not in the iTunes Store or if it is named something different than an album in the iTunes Store, you might not have your files updated. In those cases, either manually add the album artwork to the album or rename the album to match the iTunes Store album.

I had the same issue and it drove me crazy. Since I purchased my music via CD my iCloud won't recognized for some reason.
so the quick fix for me was
click on any song and press Ctrl A, right click and click where it say Get Album Artwork and it should upload for most of it, but one or three songs wasn't upload but it was better then all my list. Good luck.

Going to albums and selecting all then right clicking to get the album artwork underway worked for me.

I have a large library and at first I got the spinning wheel after selecting all the albums. Force quit panel said iTunes was unresponsive...but I let it go and spin instead of quitting. Eventually it stopped spinning and I right clicked over one of the albums (while they were all selected) and chose "get album artwork" and it got down to business.

thank you!
