Sorting playlists in grid view iTunes 11

Hi,

I have a few smart playlists setup on itunes for my movies. When viewing in grid view the order seems completely random. I've set to view by title and when in list view they're all alphabetically ordered but as soon as I revert to grid view again the order is just a mess.

Anyone else have this problem or know how to sort the titles alphabetically in grid view? Doesnt affect the films section of iTunes, that's all alphabetical, only affects my smart playlists.

You will need to set view to Grid View and then on the Menu Bar click View>View Options which will bring a small pop-up that allows you to resort the grid view to title / artist / genre / year / rating.

already done this and it doesn't work 😟 I set the sort box to title and the then box is blank with no options but all movies stay in a random order.

Sort of works. Albums in a subfolder do not sort correctly with the rest - they show up at the end of the rest, but at least it is better than it was. The problem is that by default the menu bar does not show up and it took a while to figure our how to turn it on.

I think this version may have some advantages once a person gets used to it, but until then.........

not entirely sure what you mean. I'm trying to sort movies not albums. They're all in 1 folder, no sub folders. Grid view selected and sort by title in sort options. The order is just completely random.

When I hit command-J to sort my movies in Grid view, I get the choice to sort by Title. However, there is no Title field when I go to list view of the same folder (only a Name field, ??????). In any event, no way to sort by the name of the movie.

I have the same problem with movies in Smart Playlists, what I found to be a work-around is to fill in the Artist field. I used a Script from Dougs Apple Scripts to copy the Name tag to the Artist tag, and now it works fine. It seems iTunes is trying to sort by artist, even when you choose to sort by Title....

I have the same problem -- Smart Playlist called "Movies by Movie Title", then under View Options-->Sort by: Title. And it's still trying to sort by Artist (in which I've put the Director's name). Doesn't list by Movie Title, or Name in iTunes column.

In List View it works fine highlighting the Name column.

After experimenting, I "sorted" it out. Title means Album. I have my Titles under Name, and my Directors under Artist. So it wasn't sorting properly. But if I duplicate the movie title from the Name field into the Album field, then Grid View, Sort by Title, starts to sort by movie title. Hope this helps.
