Can i clean my macbook outercover"aluminium"with water

Can i clean my macbook outercover"aluminium"with water ..does water makes aluminium shining low ??should i use water to clean my mac or not ? Is it safe to wet the coth which i got from macbook for cleaning anything i don't where to use the cloth ??

Follow the cleaning instructions that came with your MBP. Read the little booklet that came with it. Avoid WATER. Lightly damp cloth is acceptable. Shut the unit down and remove the charger. Read the booklet.
