EULA everytime iTunes open, Mozilla preference changes not remembered.

I get the EULA every time I open iTunes. I accept, but it always comes back. Similar problem w/ Mozilla--I change my “home page” which works w/ a new “home” until exit. When I start again, I get the original page I’m trying to replace. Any ideas?

If 10.7.0 or later...

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Any change on restart?

Thank you. I tried this and repairs were definitely needed -- there were a number of permissions that needed repairing. The catch is that each time I repaired them, the repairs would not stick (each time I tried this, the same repairs were needed) and the problems with iTunes and Mozilla remained. I even attempted to do the repairs consecutively, without exiting the utility and the same repairs were needed. Any additional thoughts as to why the repairs would not work?

Thanks!

Thank you for the clarification. For the folder says:

Sharing and Permissions:

You can only read

system: Read & Write

wheel: Read only

everyone: Read only

I tried changing this once to "Read & Write" for "wheel" and "everone" but it reverted to the above after restart. I have not yet tried to apply changes to enclosed items.

It is the latter: /Library/Preferences/

As a point of clarification, I do not have the following: /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/

All I see under /Users/YourUserName/ is:

/Users/YourUserName/Desktop/

/Users/YourUserName/Documents/

/Users/YourUserName/Downloads/

/Users/YourUserName/Movies/

/Users/YourUserName/Music/

/Users/YourUserName/Pictures/

/Users/YourUserName/Public/

/Users/YourUserName/Sites/

Thanks!

Silly Apple...

For quick and temporary access to your ~/Library/ directory that still retains it’s default hidden nature, try one of the following two tips:

Use “Go To Folder” and Open ~/Library/ Directly

All you need to do is hit Command+Shift+G from the Mac desktop (or Finder > Go > Go to Folder) and type in ~/Library to temporarily access the Library directory in the Finder. When you are done, close this window and it will no longer be visible.

Hold Option and Use the “Go” Menu to Show Library

Holding down the Option key will show the “Library” directory as an option in the Finders Go menu. The other nice thing about the Go menu is that after you have accessed ~/Library on multiple occasions, it will start to appear in the “Recent Folders” submenu for easy repeat access.

Found it, thanks! For my user, I have Read & Write privileges. For "Staff" it is "Read only" and for "Everyone" it is "Read & Write". When I change to "Read & Write" for "Staff" as well, the problem still occurs after restart. I should also note that, I have three users on the iMac. Two with administrative privileges and one with parental controls. The problem only occurs for one of the adminstrative accounts, but not the other two.

Again, thank you for taking the time on this.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.

First, empty the Trash.

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it, then drag or copy it — do not type — into the Terminal window:

find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l

Press return. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.

The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "35." Please post it in a reply.
