The simple way is to locate the correct settings and enter them, this means all settings, security, servers, authentification etc for both Imap and SMTP sections.

Do you have these?

Some searching with Google suggests that Windows Live and Windows Live Hotmail do not support Imap access, only POP, HTTP or Active Sync, if this is correct you will only be able to set it up as POP3, so you won't see your folders (unlike Gmail)

Also Live and Hotmail accounts are transforming into Outlook accounts (@outlook.com) so servers may be wierd at the moment.

Set it up as POP

wolfrus,

i beleive that everyone was under the perspecitve that you wanted to have your hotmail/outlook account on the msn side work on mail. that can only be done in pop3 format

however you will only see the basic folders inbox, sent, trash......because of pop3 as its referred to.

as for the live to outlook account coversion on the msn side - i have done that as well and I am pleasently supprised of the webmaill interface.

to answer your question, if you follow the simple steps you can receive and send emails from your account

but you will not see all of the sub-folders because it is not imap.

As for exchange, exchange will work differently based on your organization.
