My iMac will not wake up when goes to sleep. My mouse just acts as an erraser on my desk top. I have to force shut down.

There has been a 'failure to wake from sleep' problem for some users (me included) since some point in OS X 10.6 - it's only been resolved, for me at least, since I've been on 10.8.2.

Not sure your problem is exactly the same in that most of those effected couldn't get the screen to wake at all when touching any of the Bluetooth devices. The 'fix' that worked for me 100%of the time was to go to System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.
