He's talking about trying to move a file and getting an error message saying "The parameter is incorrect." I had this problem and was disappointed to find that nobody had an answer, but I found the answer.

I moved all the files that weren't "invalid" and left only the ones that were on my iPhone. When I checked back on my phone's library, there were no photos at all. My guess is that deleted content will sometimes still appear in browsers. To confirm, I took a picture and deleted it. Sure enough - there was a new "invalid" file there.

Deleting a file does NOT remove it from the drive. Instead, it removes any locators to the file. So from an external browser, it can sometimes be found, but attempts to edit the file result in a null because there aren't any locators to it. Don't worry, though. Deleted files are marked as deleted, and will be overwritten when the space is needed. Until then, the file can be recovered.

I have the same problem but my files have not been deleted. I can copy JPG and MOV files from the same folder on the iPad to my Windows 7 PC, but NOT files that are CR2 (Canon RAW) format.

This is probably an attempt to protect my iPad from files not compatible with the device, especially since I can't change the files names of the CR2 files, either.

I need a workaround, but can't pay for it. I have NEVER HEARD of not being able to move a file before and had relied on my iPad keeping a backup of valuable RAW files.

A reply would be really nice. Aren't there any mediators on this site??? Nokia had great mediators, but that was then, of course!!

I still have this issue. I am running Windows 8.1 on brand new fast laptop -- Lenovo Y70 touch with 16 GB RAM and almost nothing installed on it. There seems no decent reason a 1 year old iPhone 6+ with 64 GB storage cannot xfer 15 GB of photos to an almost empty laptop. Crazy that there are no answers. Also, my issue is not the one previously referenced wherein there are invalid files. That is not my case as I have gone to files on which the process stalled and was easily able to individually copy each of those files to the laptop.

Apple, anyone listening? Please help. Thanks.

Thank you iNonentity,

I went through every iphone photo / video (connected through my desktop) and found many files missing / deleted. which as iNonentity says is causing the issue. I then had to preview and delete all photos that were not showing or had been removed. Only after this could my files be transferred across.

Do not worry about copying duplicate files, as the PC will notice duplicates and ask if you still want to copy. Its a bit tedious, but it worked. Thanks again to iNonentity; but not to Apple mediators 👿
