I would like to know as to why the playlists I create on my iPhone 4S iOS 6.0 gets deleted when I plug into iTunes?

I always enjoy making playlists on the go using my iPhone. I always make different ones, but they tend to get deleted when i plug into iTunes. It sukcs seeing all the time I put into making them go to waste..
