I Found Power Search. It's very similar to the original including the Popularity Rating but it takes a few extra steps to get. Take these steps.....

1) Select Browse in the Quick Links on the right hand side. You'll see the normal browsing screen.

2) On the top right hand side will be a "Search" window. Type an artist. Hit Enter

The "Results" window displays a very busy screen with Songs, Albums and Music Video.

3)Select the "See All" above the Songs and the "Results" will change to the original look of Power Search of all the songs from your search along with the Popularity Rating.

I hope this helps everyone.

Exactly. Where is Power Search? They have removed an important bit of functionality from iTunes.

Under the previous Power Search, you could narrow your search by entering multiple search terms in multiple boxes. For example, if I only wanted a version of a given choral piece, as performed under the baton of or arranged by a specific conductor arranger, I could enter multiple search terms.

Under Name I could put: Cantique de Jean Racine

Under Artist I could put: John Rutter

Under Album I could put: Faure: Requiem

...and it would return only that piece, as arranged or directed by Rutter.

I search for specific arrangements of jazz tunes, that have been porformed by multiple artists, in like manner.

Now, you can only enter one search term like the name of the song, the name of the album, or the name of the artist, and you then have to BROWSE through numerous possibilities.

Now, in addition to the Power Search no longer being available in the iTunes Store, that kind of search functionality is even missing in the Library. Now, if you you search your library, it just shows the possible matches in a little Pop-Down menu under the search tab, with no detail, rather than displaying them in the full iTunes "List" view.

Literally, what they have done is to "Dumb down" iTunes to appeal to those who want pictures instead of useful functionality. They have literally ruined it.

I stumbled accidentally into ITunes powersearch which, unlike another posting, works with Windows rather than OSX. It also offers access to the full functionality. It is initially a bit clunky since you enter ITunes via a search from Artistdirect but you can easily shorten it to just two mouse clicks. So here is a Christmas gift to the apple community.

Google: artistdirect XX coexist shop download

The top result should take you to a page at Artistdirect.com with a link to ITunes where you can buy the XX album. Click on this link. If asked for permission to allow this website to open a program, click yes.(The program is ITunes).

Now, joy of joys, powersearch is revealed in its full glory.

There is nothing specific about the use of the XX album. Any similar page on Artistdirect will work the same trick. Finally, you can speed through the initial opening of the Artistdirect page by storing it as a favourite. I put my link on the IE Favourites toolbar. Name it something sensible like ITunes PS.

Finally, it is difficult to understand how a consumer-savvy organisation like Apple can think they know better than ITunes users and remove this facility without warning or consultation. Admittedly it requires a little more intelligence than the other search methods. Perhaps Apple are now targetting the stupid market.

That's it? "Sorry paying customers, but we decided to remove a really useful and vital feature from the service for which we want you to pay." I have found iTunes 11 in general to be sadly disappointing (yeah, aesthetically I guess it is somewhat cool, at least in a novelty value sort of way), but the lack of specifically including Power Search (and then the apparent decision not to consider changing that) will cause me to buy all my music from Amazon or elsewhere in protest. The bone-headedness of Apple in this is staggering. A simple example (similar to one already given above). If I want to search for pieces composed by Serge Prokofiev, and also performed by him, the iTunes Power Search feature was perfect. That same search simply can't be done anymore (and remember, searching Prokofiev won't necessarly return all possible results, just try searching [in the new search] "Classical Masters", then searching "Classical Masters Rabin". The first search will not return the Michael Rabin Classical Masters album [and who knows what else?], whereas the second one will.)

I have commented on numerous occasions to friends, "the best thing about iTunes is that you can actually do intelligent searches for classical music, unlike other services like Rhapsody." So I guess now that Steve Jobs is dead, we can no longer expect Apple to do anything on a better level than anyone else. Sadly disappointing. 😠

If I can find a way to extract the music that i have PAID FOR in itunes I would be gone in a shot. The "geeks" at itunes listen to no one. I was thinking about a new apple device ( i have several), but i am putting it off. I am looking at google now. They keep screwing around with itunes...and not making it better!

I have a dark theory that Apple make heaps of money by directing customers to all the latest fads with their flashy new layout, and therefore they don't want us wasting our money on looking for other stuff. After all, who goes around saying the customer is right, these days? The person who can scoop the most MONEY is right.

It's the only explanation I can think of for why you would take away such an obviously useful feature.

where is the power search?
