Q: eMac 10.3.9 can't connect to ethernet

When I restarted my old eMac, it could no longer find the internet.

I believe the setting have changed or are no longer valid.

I tried to use Network Setup Assistant but it always ends up asking me for a DHCP Client ID# or PPPoE acoount information to proceed.

I configured this eMac's at several location and with different providers and never had to give this information.

Anyone know the default settings that will allow my eMac to find the internet?

EMAC G4, Mac OS X (10.3.9), 1GHz, 1G ram, OSX 10.3.9

I'm uncomfortable disturbing my network settings, considering the time I've spent trying to re-establish them.

What about the remaining option: Firewire ?

The eMac uses a FW400 connector and the iMac a FW800 connector .

How do you feel about migrating the files using Migration Assistant?

I would start-up the donor computer while holding down "T", if I understand correctly.

That would produce a target disk image of the eMac, on my iMac?

Beyond that I would need to follow what MA instructs.

    Now I need to find a FW800 cable and a FW800 to FW400 adapter.

Yes, get a FW400->FW800 cable, put the eMac in Target mode, & MA will be a great way to do it!
