I agree totally, developers should not be FORCED into making changes,. This is a very dangerous situation. I believe a good program SHOULD reach a point where it is stable for a number of years with minor debugs etc. However to just dump whole philosophies of thinking like Tunes 11 did is sad.
What is happening to program design across the board in the last ten years. I am sick of spending 50% of my computer time dealing with re-learning that which I already knew. I have to do it in many programs that once were well designed, did what you needed to do, and did not try to complicate things too much.
Does anyone else here feel this way? Is there not enough on our plates trying to come to terms with all the new, exciting program developments, and apps, without having to relearn that which was once second nature in our trusted programs? Can Apple. Inc not see that destroying the faith of the initial client base will eventually destroy their product? I would leave out of iTunes if had the time to find something else. I will leave eventually.
Are designers just jealous, scared, or forced into making these gross changes?
This is a dangerous time in computing I believe. Companies like Apple.Inc were once companies that had a special, distinct, philosophy. They did not try to imitate, they did what they did and they did it well.
Are they becoming scared of the competition? I just do not get it.
