iTunes 11 - any way to add Album Art

Adding artwork to multiple items from the Get Info artwork window still works for me exactly like it always has... Right Click on your source image then select Copy Image... then Right Click in the art window and select Paste. This is neither new nor has it changed from previous versions.

What WAS taken away was the abilty to do this directly in list view now that our beloved artwork window has been stolen from the side bar.

I never tried the copy/paste method. All I know is the way I used to do it -- accessing the "get info" window by right clicking on the album (or opening the album and selecting all the songs at once) and then double clicking the album art window and selecting a source file--was disabled. The image files we viewable but not selectable. I will try the copy/paste method, that sounds easier than my way. Thanks.

I think it has to do with the file extension having to be .jpg instead of .jpeg.

...and even after using iTunes extensively to build and manage a 40,000 song music collection, I had no clue you could double-click in the window to open an Explorer window to select a file. That said, I don't think I would find much use for it because I don't typically download artwork files to select that way.

In any case... good news for you... that feature works just fine in the update released today.

Artwork in the following file formats should work:

• .jpg
• .jpeg
• .png
• .tiff
• .tiff
• .jpe
• .bmp
• .gif

It may be possible that the file you tried it with was just corrupt or otherwise incompatible and could not be displayed.

Hi everybody, I've tried every method to copy album artwork into itunes 11 without any success. None of the methods before seem to work on my Windows 7 64 environement.

Are there any other ideas?

I've found the solution myself: It is obviously not possilble to add album art to .WAV-Files. When I convert them into .mp3 the album covers can be assigned.

I really would prefer a lossless format to rip my CDs and use a compression when synchronizing with the iPhone / iPod.

Merry Christmas. Frank if you're on Mac, try bigasoft audio converter of similar to transcode from wav to Apple Lossless with no quality loss. Then you can play on your iPod etc. and use album art. Just make sure too that the art work extensions are .jpg and not .jpeg. Have a good holiday anyway :)

Thanks for that. I have thousands of records. I just reanted that we have to go thru this nonsense just to use itunes properly.

They have no intention of asupporting the "heavy music lover". They max me at 25,000 songs, even if I beg to pay more, they say NO NO OOOO

In windows, just copy and paste.

I google [cd name] image then when the image comes up, right click to copy, go into the artwork box in get info in itunes then right click and paste. You used to have to drag and drop in previous versions but this seems to work even easier

Thank you! This worked for me. Here's what I did:

1. I selected my image and chose Copy (mine was in Photoshop).

2. Went to iTunes > Albums> found my album. I right clicked the album and selected Get Info.

3. A window popped up and asked if I was sure I wanted to edit multiple items. I selected Yes.

4. When the editing panel appeared, I put a check mark next to the blank Artwork box. I then clicked on the blank Artwork box and did an Apple+V (aka Cntrl+V).

There it was. Thanks very much!!

For all the people that cant seem to do any of the methods mainly the one where the get info paste process doesnt work.

What you need to do is go to the mp3 songs that you want the artwork for select all of them.

the right click and see if the read only box is checked.

if so uncheck and do the copy paste method and it will work.

(1) Copy the cover image from the web or scan the original CD insert then copy the image (CTRL+C) from whichever location you saved the image to; (2) Right click on the empty album cover and select Get Info then right click in the Artwork holder (bottom right of the Info tab) and paste. Bingo!

Excellent work-around.
