Q: whwat app do I need to connect my Imac to my apple tv for general use

How do I connect my Imac to my Apple tv wirrelesly i tried using a trial version of Airparrot burt it did not have any sound, I have connected to I tunes to play videos and Films and it works fine, but i would like to connect to my tv for genneral use Do I need an app like airparrot if so what is the best app ?

I am using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

If this program doesn't work, open  > About this Mac and tell us the generation of your Mac. AirPlay Mirroring needs a Mid 2011 or newer iMac, so if your iMac is supported, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion

If you still have airparrot trial time you can try again but you may need to select airparrot as the audio before starting the app, it is a common issue.
