I am using a MacBook Air which was purchased in the US with Portuguese as a main language for typing text, messages, documents, etc....
All characters with accents appear properly in the mails sent (using office Outllok for Mac) but when transmitted the character with accents are not recognized.
For example the character ã (which is typed as "alt Option" + N then a) appears as "?" when transmitted in an e-mail

Where exactly is it "appearing" like that? On your computer? For the recipients of your email at the other end?

On other devices (i.e. handheld iOS devices or computers).
On my Mac they do appear fine.
Send me a message, just one line with the usual portuguese special characters--ã õ ç etc

Thanks for the test email. I could not see any problem with the accented characters or with the underlying code being produced by your email program. I think perhaps there is something at the recipient end which is corrupting the encoding.
