Can't stream through bluetooth headset

I have a Plantronics M50 headet. I connect it to my iphone and my android. I lost a previous one a few weeks ago that I had no problem with. This current replacement won't stream to my headet from my iphone 4s. (I'm on my second replacement now) It will stream from my android no problem and it is ok with phone calls via headset. Also sometimes the volume is low at the highest iphone setting in the phone via headset but it is hard to tell if that is a headset or phone issue.

The iphone sound, when I turn on music or streaming media, goes straight to speakerphone even with the audio button to off. I have reset it. The s/w is updated. if I use a wired headset the sound goes to the wired headset.

Any thought?
