syncing itunes to ipod touch with itunes 11 on laptop running xp issue

hey,

has anyone else have had any issues with syncing a 3rd generation ipod touch to the newest version of itunes on a computer that runs windows xp sp3? my computer recognizes the ipod itself because it charges the ipod, and it did the "added new drivers" thingy that windows based computers do when you plug in new hardware to the usb port, but the ipod touch 8g isn't syncing to itunes at all, however my old 1gig ipod shuffle synces to this new version of itunes no problem...
