Recording set up with MacBook Pro

What is best way to hook up a powered mixer to MacBook Pro for recording in Logic Pro? Any difference USB connect vs. mic in 1/4 in jack? Do I need to use MAudio interface also?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), Also own MacBook Pro
