"Loading Events" take forever when moving Events in 10.0.6

This is a FCPX 10.0.6 problem, currently latest version, just upgragded from 10.0.5.

I have about 1.1TB of events on a Thunderbolt 6TB drive (Pagasus R6). This is a transition from an older 1TB drive that became too small.

I just imported about 50gb across maybe 100 clips, and as I try to move just one Event into their correct destination subfolders (I use Year-Month as my clip data structure in FCPX) then I get the "Loading Events" window which takes forever. The first 80 subfolders go fast, but by the time I get to the 90th, it takes as much as 10mn per folder, and FCPX crashes before finishing anyways.

I tried trashing the pref files, but to no avail. I am not displaying the waveforms.

So I am basically unable to manage my events at this point.

Help!!!

I have only 5 projects on the same drive, and about 120 events (one per month for the past 10 years). Each event has anywhere from 1 to 100 clips, probably 25 on average.

I bought Event Manager X and selected only 24 events for the past 2 years of my clips, but FCPX now crashes upon loading the first or second event as I try moving any events from my import event into my monthly events.

So I am totally in broken mode right now, even trashing preference files doesn't work.

Help, this is a total fiasco.

I guess I would use Event Manager X to move all but the most recent project and event to not-in-use status. Then sequentially bring events and projects on line and see how that affects loading and stability. In my case, I've definitely found 10.0.6 to be more flaky than previous versions and frequently using EMX to restore a semblance of predictability and responsiveness.

Good luck.

i did that, only 12 events, and as soon as I try drag and drop a clip from an event to its correct destination event, I get the "Loafing" windw then FCP X crashes within 2 seconds. EVERY SUNGLE TIME. I TRASHED THE PREF FILES TO NO AVAIL. INSTALLED 10.0.7 TO NO AVAIL.

I simply cannot move one single clip from one event to another without crashing FCP X.

I HAVE 100% CRIPPLED AND NO IDEA WHAT TO DO NOW????

I think FCPX simply cannot handle too many clips/events.

I used Event Manager X to sellect only a subset of events, say from 1 to 20 and i was able to move events and FCPX successfully loads the events after the move but doesn't crash. Likewise, I can do the same with events 11-30, but I simply cannot do 1-30, as FCPX crashes around Clip 25 after the attempt to Move events. So this seems to indicate that the events themselves are OK, but FCPX can't handle the volume.

At this point, I just find it easier to arrange my clips from the Finder, at least as far as allocatiing my imported events into their correct subfolders. I just won't be using FCPX to mve events for the moment. It's sort of stupid that the software cannot handle a large library of Events, but I'm tired of it and won't fight anymore, ran out of ideas.
