HELP! my facebook page is just frozen! How do I quit Safari???

I canNOT quit Safari! It just keeps dinging & won't allow any of the "clear cache" or "quit safari" functions!!! Please help--I've already done 2 "hard shut downs" over half a day & it keeps happening...!
