Re Imac G5: is it possible to run solely on voice activation and response and would I have to obtain special software to do this?

I want to set up an Imac G5 17"(2005 model) as a present for my dad who absolutely loves the idea of the "HAL" computer in 2001 a space odyssey. I would like to do this in the most cost effective manner so any tips about how to maybe get freeware to do this would be very much appreciated :-)
