I recently got the new Remote app for my iPad 3 and i signed in on my iMac and iPad but it keeps saying on the iPad Turn on Home Sharing on your computer or on Apple TV using my account! What do I do?
iPad, iOS 6.0.1
on iMac go to iTunes and Sign in (Store on top emenu bar)
Switch on Home Sharing
in iTunes 10 it is under Store
in iTunes 11 it is under File

the ipad and iMac need to be on the same LAN - local network.
Also which version of iTunes do you have on your iMac?
Are both iPad and iMac up to date?
I'm running iTunes 11, iPad running iOS 6.0.1 and iMac is running Mountain Lion and all the devices are on the same wi-fi network!

This is very likely a router problem not broadcasting Apple Bonjour service.
Some users reported simmilar issues.
Which router do you use?
not sure which model but there were some posts in the past where changing WiFi encryption from WPA2 to WPA solved the problem.

but your problem is most likley the router.
Look in your router's advanced network settings and if you see IGMP Proxy make sure that it's disabled. This solves the sharing issue on Verizon FiOS. Note also that on at least my router the boot default seems to be enabled, so every now and then I need to go in and disable IGMP Proxy.
I have Verizon Fios. Changing my encrytion from WPA2 to WPA seems to have solved my issue... Wierd! Thanks for the post!
Dya know what... since i installed iTunes 11 I had lost both home sharing between Mac & PC (Win7) and access to my 1st gen apple tv...
Thanks to snooping around I found a thread that said to disable IP v6 on my windows machine - did that from here

Re-booted PC - home sharing was back & so was my Apple TV!!!
My iPod Touch 4th Gen was working just fine with being able to control iTunes with the "Remote" app. After I updated iTunes to version 11 on my Windows 7 machine, it stopped working. iPod is jailbroken so figured it was just bein screwy. Got a new iPhone 5 and still doesn't work so went to my router immediately and changed it to WAP from WAP2. Shows up just fine now and able to use remote. Didn't even have to sign in and out of Home Sharing. Once WAP was on it showed up instantly.
Scratch that...now it shows up but just says could not find "My" Library. Confused....will post again if I find anything out.
