iTunes 11 - not displaying songs purchased from iTunes store...

Upgraded to iTunes11 - and have immediately noticed what appears to be an issue with the new release.

When I purchase music from the iTunes store, it appears to download successfully to my Mac.

However, on completion of the download, the music does NOT appear in iTunes 11 library.

I checked the folder that iTunes downloads to - and discovered a 'downloads' file with all the music in there. It appears not to be 'processing' the music on completion of the download to display it in the library for playing.

I have found two workarounds though:

1) I went back to the iTunes store, to my purchase history, and 're-downloaded' the songs again - and this time they magically downloaded and displayed in my library on my Mac (note, the files in the 'download' file are still there and untouched)

2) As an experiement, I created a new iTunes library on an external hard drive - and purchased a song from the iTunes libray to see what would happen. This time the song downloaded - and DID appear in the iTunes libray that I had set up.

This leads me to conclude that iTunes 11 has somehow corrupted my original iTunes library and does not process downloaded songs correctly - or I need to import all my existing songs (over 12,000!) to my 'new' iTunes library which appears to work ok....

Anyone else come across this? Or is this just user error on my part?!!

I'm having the same issue right now. I just purchases a few songs through the new iTunes. They do not show in my library but if I go to my account the show in my recent purchase list.

How did you "re-download" your purchases? When I look at my purchased playlist in my library or recent purchases in the store, the 'Download' button is greyed and the text is 'Downloaded'...

Same issue here - redownload from iTunes works ... temporary workaround ...

Have solved this now - and its a problem with iTunes 11.

I set up a standalone library with iTunes match OFF - and dowloaded a few songs. All worked perfectly and displayed in the library after completion.

I then went back to my original library, switched iTunes Match off - bought some more songs - and it worked perfectly (in other words, after the downloaded completed, the songs displayed in the library).

I then switched iTunes match back ON - and then bought another song - and after downloading exactly the same problem occured. (after finishing download, the song failed to display in the library).

As a final test, I then switched iTunes Match OFF again and repeated the above with a new purchase - and it all worked perfectly again.

It may have cost me $10 or so in buying music - but I seem to have proven that the issues I am seeing on my MAC with iTunes 11 (songs not displaying after download) are due to some error with iTunes match....

Hope this is of help to anyone who has spent time trying to work this frustrating issue out!!

I made the same experience (although I did not create a new library and reused my existing library instead).

When iTunes Match is ON, new purchases are not shown unless I download it a second time.

Turning iTunes Match OFF solves the issue.

This is a new behaviour (bug ?) in iTunes 11

Strangely, I've never had iTunes Match enabled on my iMac or my MBP/r but still had the issue. Seems sync'ing to my iOS devices fixed the issue. iTunes 11 on my PC did not exhibit the issue. Only on my Macs.

Yeah.. Ive got the same fault too.. This is so annoying!. Even with the extra time "to get it right" Apple still get it wrong.

Like AndyDragon I am not an iTunes Match subscriber and had this issue intermittently, but not with every purchase.

After verifying that the file had indeed downloaded in Finder I did some digging around in iTunes Preferences and turned off the "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" preference.

My downloaded song then appeared in the Library immediately.

I have been having this problem as well. My workaround has been to force iTunes Match to update and then redownload the files from iCloud. The original downloads just sit in my downloads folder and are never processed.

I'm intrigued by reports that the update to 11.0.1 resolved this issue. For me, this is not the case. Neither was easter aries' suggestion to deselect 'Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases' in the preferences, nor pattiharrington's suggestion to force iTunes Match to update. For me, the only solution has been and continues to be to quit iTunes, then relaunch it. The missing purchases then appear as expected.

Oddly, as an aside, this phenomenon only affects items purchased from the iTMS. Tracks or videos ripped from other media and imported by drag-and-drop immediately appear in the library, as expected. Quite strange.

I have installed 11.01 and have the same issue. Also forcing ITunes match did not resolve the issue. Unfortunaltely for me alos relaunching Itunes does not work. I do see the puchases in the purchase list and on my IOS devices, not in the library.
