Cannot Sync Ipod Classic with Itunes 11

After installing Itunes 11, I cannot sync my Ipod Classic. It has worked perfectly up until this version. Here are the options I like:

Open Itunes when... -- ON

Sync only checked... -- OFF

Convert higher... ON (128) (I have a LOT of music I like to fit on this little ipod)

Manually manage... -- OFF

Enable Disk Use... -- OFF

I have tried restoring the ipod and resyncing everything, but that doesn't work eiter.

I also got some errors about not being able to copy some podcasts (like 100 of them) when I tried syncing after restoring, but I have seen that before and just ignored it and it still gets stuck.

It gets stuck around song 5, I've left it running for two days and still no progress. Even checking "On this iPod" shows me that no songs have sync'd.

Help?

I also have the same problem.

My iPod Classic gets stuck while syncing the second track (i convert my tracks to 192kbps).

I sync music onto the iPod by artist, and I tried unchecking and re-checking the artist the iPod was trying to sync in the hopes of it syncing properly...

No such luck. Always stuck on 2nd track.

Both my iPod Touch (3rd Gen) and my iPhone 3GS don't have any problems when syncing.

I'm having this same issue. I have the 160gb iPod classic, it was working fine until the upgrade to iTunes 11. I'm syncing only selected playlists, some of which copy over. It seems that if the fist two songs make it accross the rest will as well, but if itunes sits on the "copying 1 of 80:" for too long, I know it's not going through. I tested this by leaving it on that sync overnight. It was the same when I got up. Strangely, I stopped the sync, unchecked the playlist for syncing and selected another playlist which went through. I reselected one of the other playlist that was hanging up and it managed to go through that time. I've only gotten this to happen once so far.

My suspicion is that iTunes is getting stuck on converting certain tracks to AAC, -as I have that option checked because I have many big files. I played some of the songs that where getting stuck and all of them are candidates for AAC conversion. One was a Variable bit rate track and another was a 320kb track.

I'm not sure where else to go from here, but I'll post again if I come up with a solution.

Update: More information and how I've temporarily solved this problem. I installed the new iTunes 11 on two computers when it came out both of which have the same specs. One was an upgrade from most previous version of itunes, the other was a new install. My idea was to move my library to my other laptop as the old one was running out of space.

I copied my iTunes library over to my other laptop, installed iTunes and started making adjustments like deleting smart playlists and turning off genius. My thinking was to see if i could get itunes to run faster on my other laptop. It did run alot faster with all the genius playlists btw.

I now have my music in two different locations; same everything minus some smart playlists. Long story short, my identical playlists that where not syncing did sync from my original laptop. so there is something different between my two laptops that is causing the sync not to work, again my guess is converting tracks to acc. Maybe the upgraded itunes has files that my new install itunes does not which allow conversion of songs to ACC.

Good news is iTunes now allows you to have multiple locations without deleting your iPod so I can retransfer all my music on my old laptop and keep the library on my new laptop. At least until Apple comes up with a fix.

Good luck, I'll drop more info if anything changes.

i have the exact same issue with my classic - i have the same options set as the original poster, but mine set to convert to 192.

have a brand new ipod classic that i bought yesterday to replace my old one that died, and am trying to sync my library to it.

i have got a bit further and managed to work out that its only mp3 files that mine is having a problem syncing - i went through and unticked all my mp3's and it then synced ~19,000 songs fine (all aac/m4a)...

weird thing is that if i now tick one or two mp3's it will then sync them ok, but if i select a larger number (eg a whoile album) then the sync gets stuck again (usually on the second song)

so i think that new itunes (v11) is having issues converting groups of mp3's to lower bitrate aac

please fix asap apple - i dont want to have to sync the 20gb of mp3's i've got left one at a time!

edit: win7 64bit btw
