Songs don't play on iPod

Some songs in my library aren't playing on my iPod. The song info comes on the screen, then it will immediately skip to the next song. Sometimes going through several before it will stop and play. When I go into iTunes the same song plays fine. I do not have any error icons showing on my screen.

20 GB iPod, Windows XP

Is this purchased music from the iTMS, or music ripped from your own CDs?

I was also having this problem. Now, my iPod (4th Gen) will not play any songs. When I connect it to my computer, iTunes does not recognize it, the iPod updater freezes until I unplug the iPod and then gives me a message saying unable to mount iPod. I have reset the iPod, I went into disk mode and tried connecting it, still nothing. I've noticed a clicking noise that sounds like it could be the arm of the hard drive. I tried hitting the iPod on the right side, nothing. I haven't gotten an unhappy iPod symbol or a folder with an exlamation point. Anyone have any ideas?

Previously, it had only happened on my CD's, but this morning it happened from a song I just bought last week from iTunes.

Have you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer?

hi there,

i had this problem a month ago and the HD is indeed, kaput.
i have applecare so they managed to replace it with a refurbished ipod in a week.
