Missing composer option in itunes 11

CrApple does it again....

Please reinstate the feature that made iTunes worth using for a wide community of users....

That's annoying. I don't use composer for music but have been using it as the field to add the director for movies and tv shows.

I just upgraded to iTunes 11 and realized that the Composer view was not there, The Composer View is a MUST for Classical Music Libraries, I don´t think there is a valid technical reason to take it off. I´m considering to "downgrade" to iTunes 10.7 and wait until iTunes 11 have the Composers View again or use another application.

Am I missing something!!! Composer is available as view option and by Column browser as before. Was there another option under 10.7?

Glad that you have discovered the advantages of the column browser panes. Very powerful tools for finding one's way around a large music collection. One point you made I'd like to clarify. A playlist does NOT take up disk space. Your songs are stored once and only once. A playlist is just what it says it is; a list you've made to make it easy to find/play the items you've listed.

When I filled the "feedback" form in yesterday - before this posting, Apple were not even recognising Version 11 on the form! They have fixed it now.... I thought they had already disowned it! Let's hope they add a Composer option as quickly, its is more user friendly - less key strokes & more obvious as it carries on a design feature of previous versions.

The Column Browser works well in "Songs" mode but not in Albums or Artists and Search works in any mode, but it is poor UI - it requires more actions from the user than the Composers selection of old.

However as a general design principle, removing useful & established features from a User Interface just shows design arrogance or design ignorance and certainly poor design management.

The music files are the ones that take up the most space. Album art does not account for much. Playlists don't take up any space as they are pointing the music file in the iTunes library.

Can't comment on size of library. I have around 330gb of music and one positive thing about iTunes 11 is that it now opens quicker.

2.65gb is 0.2% of 1.36. = not much. My own ratio is around 0.8% and I would expect most other user would have a similar ratio.

What about composers in the store itself? For instance, I'm looking for composers of a "Te Deum" and I get an enormous Song playlist (2000+!), which comes with fixed headings: Name/Artist/Album/Time/Popularity/Price.

No composer.

It drives me absolutely nuts.

Any experience with that?
