safari 6.0.2 mac OSX LION 10.7.5

I opened up by macbook to find safari (which had been left open along with mail) not aable to load. attempting to close safari, it constantly re-opened itself without loading the home page. I used forced quit and closed the program. On re-opening safari I found that the address bar which should only search the history goes directly to a new web site, the rss feed logo on the right of that bar has disssapeared as has the smaller google search address bar.

I now have only one address bar.

Can I get the two bars back?

Many thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), safari 6.0.2
