Does Apple have a trigger to cause the device to not charge if any parts are changed ?.

I replaced the LCDs on my macbook pro and iphone 4s this weekend, both worked perfectly until i saw that they were not charging...when battery drained I am out of luck. Seems extremely coincidental. I called the Apple phone number and they said that since i changed the screens i am not covered. I also see there are issues with the logic board on my macbook pro but same thing, i changed the broken screen so they say too bad..$700 to even look at it. Anything I can do to get these two devices to charge ?
