workaround in Logic Express

I'm using a midikeyboard with faders and knobs, but do need cable switchers and more detailed physical input to assign different channels to the different faders. Sadly up to now the drivers/firmware of that instrument does not allow this.

Is there a workaround for:
- Express to show what the physical inputs are (I only see a symbol with 2 outports, and nothing more)
- to use a cable switcher to shut down ports
