Aaargh whats going on at Apple there used to be evolution and now they are trying to be flashie and stuff up in the process byt wiping great functions. First iCal & reminders. Now iTunes. Just upgraded and boy am I sorry. You could double click a playlist and that opend the playlist in a new window. This was great as you could look at one list and select in another.

Do think the list are better readable now but the bright icons are distracting.

Would be handy to have colour coding on the songs.

And there is more. I'm sure this wasn't this low in the list before. "Get Album Artwork" , etc., is something you most likely only do once. Wouldn't it make sense to make that the bottom column so you don't have to go past it to get to more often used options like "add to playlist". Simple logic guys !!!!!

The loss of multiple windows may just prevent me from

updating. With 10.7 (or earlier), I could create a playlist,

open in a new window. Then could open my library in another.

I could then drag from the library to the playlist and

put them in the order I want immediately. Now, it seems

you drag them to a playlist, then open the playlist, and then

reorder them. This is fine for just a handful of songs, but if

you are creating a mix of 60-100 songs, it gets very tedious.

Unfortunately, they way things have been going as of late

with Apple software, I think the latter part of your statement

is true.

Sort of think that now that Steve is gone, the upper management

is just there to collect paychecks and are not managing the development

and quality of the products they are responsible for.

Didn't want to go there but was thinking the same as its vision that makes brands like apple in what they are. Usually its a very small team of people that create and hold the direction. Now its like anyother company where everybody needs to have their say without anyone brave enough to put their foot down. Thats what scares me that they will be able to excecute a few things that were long in the pipeline and than loose direction. Look at the new super glossy kitch icons ;-/ I'm holding my breath for the future.

Just saw the iTunes Facebook page and out of the first

40 comments only 2 were positive. And those were the

ones that were in English that I could understand.

It really does seem that the whole Apple software world

is beginning to unravel. The dumbing down of pro apps,

Maps, the uselessness of the new App Store in iOS 6 requiring

getting a third party app that is actually useful, etc. and now

iTunes is really shedding a dark cloud over the Apple software

department and their competence.

If I were a major share holder I would be demanding Mr. Cook

get things in order promptly and quickly or find a new job.

Agreed, this is insane. My workaround (as I have a lot of playlists so my list is long and dragging and dropping to the sidebar is a PITA) is to click the circular icon with the arrow in it next to the song, then choose Add To, but then here's the kicker, you have to actually click that menu item, it doesn't show playlists on mouse over which is ridiculous in itself, then choose which playlist to add it to. Not elegant, nor as fast as dragging and dropping, but it makes things a little easier.

I am rapidly falling out of love with Apple for things like this.

Just make sure when you downgrade you follow the guide lines posted on the net so you don't loose any playlists. Was a bit of a pain but so happy I went back !!! Still really can't get they did this. You used to be able to trust that every next step was an improvement. Feels like they are basing their decisions on touch screen interfaces and the limited space they offer you. Isn't that why we also have desktops.Feel like S J must be rolling in his grave.

Without the option to open a playlist in a new window, it now makes it exceedingly difficult to add tracks to the TOP of a long playlist. The only option appears to be to add the tracks to the bottom, and drag them to the top, which can take forever on a long playlist. Previously I could open the playlist in a new window, scroll to the top, and drag the tracks from the main library window right to the top of the playlist. I was hoping there was at least a terminal command to re-enable separate windows, but so far I haven't been able to find one. This is incredibly frustrating.
