No sound from QT from within Firefox or Safari

No sound from QT from within Firefox or Safari

Although I can launch Quicktime from within Safari or Firefox (as the plugin, I guess), I don't hear any sound from it. (Other sound on my computer is fine) I have even tried launching Safari and Firefox with Rosetta to see if that makes a difference, but it still doesn't work.

Has anyone else had this problem or do you know a cure?

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.4.6), Intel

Would like to add that it seems QT audio doesn't play when trying to open a .ram stream from outside of Safari or Firefox, either. QT does play offline content (MP3s, WAVs, etc) for me however.

Thanks. I guessed that Audacity was the culprit and after I got rid of it and restarted, things started to work.
