where do downloaded apps go?

I am totally new to this new Macbook Pro. I've downloaded many apps from the iTunes store. These are apps that I've purchased and have on my iPad and iPhone. So.......I went to the purchased apps area in iTunes and got the list of my purchased apps and chose the ones I wanted to download. They all seemed to download fine..........I just can't find them on the computer and that's using the "Finder" as well........

I'm confused! Can anyone help? Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you seem to want to use the iPad/iPhone apps on your computer, right? That being the case, then unfortunately you can't do that. Those are mobile apps, that are only on your computer as a backup from your mobile devices.

If you want to get new apps for your computer, you need to use the App Store (located in your Applications folder).

Hi John,

Apps that you purchase from the iTunes Store to use on your iPad & iPhone are stored under Music>iTunes>iTunes Media>Mobile Applications.

These can only be used on your iPad/iPhone, not on your Mac.

OK! Thanks so much for the quick help! I will look at the Apps Store on this computer. I didn't realize there is a difference between the apps for the phone and the apps for the laptop!

No problem. Yes Apps from the Mac App Store are the ones you need to run on your Mac. When downloaded, they will be stored in your Applications Folder.
