Stream Music/Videos from NAS
Hello:
I am considering the purchase of a NAS for my home. Ideally, I would like to transfer my iTunes library from my iMac to the NAS (configured to run a RAID 5) and stream music/videos from it to my tv via an Apple TV. Is this possible?
The NAS I like (so far) is the QNAP TS-419 PII. It comes with an iTunes server, but as far as I can tell, it can only stream music. Would it be possible to turn off the server function, transfer my library from my iMac and point my iTunes app in my iMac to use the library stored in the RAID?
I have called the manufacturer as well as a couple of authorized dealers. I am getting very many different answers. Normally, I would trust the manufacturers answer the most, but they don't seem to be familiar with Apple products (i.e. iMac, Apple extreme router, and Apple TV). Also, there was a bit of a language barrier.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
