I Tunes U podcast sync to IPod classic

I just downloaded for the first time an ITunes U video "podcast" however it does not seem to transfer (sync) to my IPod classic (30 GB 2006 model). My IPod does not have a category of "I Tune U." Does anyone know how to resolve this ??
