I am trying to print from my iPad to a wireless printer.

I am trying to print from my iPad to an HP Airport ready wireless printer. I plugged my AirPort Extreme into a cat 5 outlet on my house network and then into a net gear box and used my PC to configure the airport. The light turns green on the airport but the device is not discovered. It does pick up an IP address so the network discovers it. Frustrating.

Main router , set up as normal

you can extend an additional airport device wirelessly or wired....they require two different setups

wired...... run a wire from the main router to the second airport device... this setup makes it a bridge/access point...you need to turn bridge mode on, this disables dhcp and stops the secondary airport device from assigning ip addresses,it gets the ip addresses from the main router

wireless............this is called "extend an network" ..... it will give u a list of the networks it can see which u might want to extend......just choose the relevant one and click updateUser uploaded file

an ipad or iphone will only print to an "airprint printer".......just connecting a regular printer to an airport device does not make it an airprint printer.....

what model is your HP printer..... if u do own an airprint printer, maybe you have not set it up correctly..... HP model no. please

There are two other solutions that work like collobos

Printopia and handyPrint.

I'm running a iPad 4 off of a Airport Express that is extended from a Airport Extreme. I have a HP LaserJet P1005 plugged into the APE. No problem printing from either pieces of software.

I also have two MBP's 17" (one WiFi and one hardwired) and 1 PC (hardwired) connected to the APE and can print through the APE to the LaserJet. I thought of putting in a USB hub but found it was just going to confuse the issue.

Hi,

You may print from iOS using the HP ePrint mobile app.

Be sure to connect the printer wirelessly to your network, then the app should locate the printer.

You may find the app below:

As well you may find more information about using the app in here:
