learn about building apps
Does anyone have any advice for where to find a good course for a web developer to learn how to build iPhone / iPad apps?
Distance learning / online would be best
Thanks

Stanford as a number of online courses available through iTunes U: http://itunes.stanford.edu

I disagree. I think you would learn more at your local university or community college.
You can learn from iTunesU from Standford University with Paul Hegarty (CS193P).
Thanks both,
Unfortunately 'my local university or college' doesn't offer such specific courses, it has general ones but they are a few days per week and we haven't got the time for that, need something that can be done in evenings and weekends - and not spend 6 months covering general computer programming first!
The Standford one says "CS193p is offered only to students of Stanford University" which I think may be difficult as we are in the UK
Sally
The CS193p is available to anybody via iTunes.
Hmm, i'm confused as this page:
http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs193p/cgi-bin/drupal/
says:
Enrollment is limited. You must be a currently-registered Stanford student
That's because you didn't bother to look in iTunes.

There are more course related to iOS development.
They're free and available to anyone with an Apple ID.

That's exactly what you need. You need not worry about spending six months covering general computer programming first. It would not be reasonable to start app development with at least 18-36 months of general computer programming experience. Once you get several years of programming experience, then you could knock out a simple app in a only few months.
I am investigating this for my partner, he has over 8 years experience in website programming and programs to a very high level - it's just he's never experienced apps before and wants to see what help there is available before starting.
He did try the itunes-u course the last time I found it for him, but it wouldn't work...hence why I investigated the link above more thoroughly. I will pass it on for him to try again
