How do you change the security settings so that I can open files from "unidentified developers"?

I want to permanently stop getting messages warning me that I can't open files from "unidentified developers" or "the internet", and having to do cmd-click open to open/run them. Driving me insane! What do I have to change?

Open the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences and click on the General tab.

Open Security & Privacy preferences. Click the lock icon and authenticate. Click on the General tab then set the radio button at the bottom:

Set to Anywhere to stop the alerts.
