apple id inactivated

Years ago I had an i pod and apple id. I did not previously have an apple computer and have just bought a mac mini. I've moved the audio files over to the new machine, but they will not play do to not being authorized. the user name apparently has been inactivated and I have not had access to the email address for years. also I don't remeber the password for that apple id, is there some way to get this corrected?
