Cannot sort songs in itunes store by name or artist or album

I just downloaded the new itunes update. I see everything now looks different compared to the old version and not necessarily an improvement. However, my problem is as follows. If I search for an artist or song, the store will pull up a list of songs. After I select See All songs, I see a long list of songs. In the older version, I could sort the list of songs in a variety of ways. For example, if I selected artist, it would sort everything alphabetically by artist. If I sorted by name of song, it would sort the list alphabetically by song. In the new itunes, it does not seem possible to sort. If I click on name or artist or album, nothing happens - no sorting. I can't believe it makes any sense to remove the sort feature, so what is going on here and how can I correct it. If not correctable, is it possible to download the previous version of itunes, which worked just great.

Also, I noticed the new version does not give you the option "see other versions."

Just updated iTunes to V 11 this evening. I find the same problem in searching the itunes store. without being able to sort by artist, title, album or even popularity it is difficult to find what I am searching for.

This needs to be addressed by Apple. Seems since Jobs' passing, Apple is missing details, e.g. IOS 5 maps and the "improved" iTunes store.

If Apple still wants to be my go to source for music I hear on XM Radio, they need to make my searching as easy as it used to be or better.

Bring back the sort function in the iTunes Store. PLEASE.

Windows 7, iPhone and a new iMac and iPad2 for the holiday in this household.

This was the first thing I noticed yesterday (other than the graphically impaired UI now at the top of iTunes) when trying to find a song by a (new to me) band I'd tracked down. Thought it must be some bug on my machine -- not only could I not sort the songs, they didn't seem to be in any order that I could discern.

Glad to hear it's not me. Who was in charge of this update?

So worried about Apple -- afraid we've seen the end of their Golden Age with SJ's passing = (

Great idea Williasp,

I always find it difficult to locate the direct input source for Apple products. They don't make it obvious.

I commented and recommend other do so too.

Someone at Apple support suggested that everyone should comment on this at:

Hopefully, if enough negative comments are submitted, they will fix it.

I can't sort by anything in the iTunes store either, and when looking for a specific song that's been covered by dozens of artists in dozens of ways, it makes it impossible to find what I want to buy.

So, I've pretty much stopped buying things on iTunes because of it.

iTunes gets consistently worse with every update, and if I hadn't already invested so much money in buying things in the iTunes store, I'd trade in my iPod for a regular MP3 player and not bother with Apple at all.

I sometimes wonder if it might be easier to simply re-purchase all the music I've got elsewhere in MP3 format and just suck up the loss as the price of doing business with Apple, their proprietary formats, and crappy interface for managing Apple purchases.

I HATE THIS NEW ITUNES UPDATE. How stupid is this - that the brains at Apple took away this invaluable feature to be able to sort the songs we search for in iTunes. What the **** are they thinking? It's the first thing I tried to do, and use this feature constantly as a DJ. If uninstall the latest and greatest iTunes 11 and reinstall iTunes 10 I can't use my iPOD. That's the only reason I updated in the first place, because you know it's never good when an update is needed. Anything can happen. So bummed. I would like to move away from this iTunes thing if I could....just don't know what my options are yet.

OMG I also just noticed that the GENRE is missing too. I used that even more! This is such a huge bummer. We should have MORE choices, not LESS. It looks pretty but is illfunctioning.

ok so I just installed 11.0.1 thinking they fixed it based on the description of the update...guess what? still no sort capabilites.. I'm not going to buying much music on itunes until this is fixed. it is impractical to locate a song without it.. e.g. I'm looking for a certain version of Joy to the World.. I know approximately the length but not sure of the artist.. and know what it sounds like.. so I would normally search for Joy to the World, sort by duration, play the samples of the ones close to the duration and voila! I'd find the song and then BUY it.. but not so much now..

duh..

Exactly! Case in point.

This is really the first time I've been so burned by iTunes. I haven't had a lot to give feedback about (they have made right their wrongs 🙂, but this problem sure gives me pause. My new found love to put music together and DJ (over the last year and a half or so) might be over. iTunes gave me incredible access and flexibility that I loved in hunting and exploring all types of genres of music. Some I didn't even know existed.

They did screw with me a bit over the home sharing options they suddenly stopped the ability to do anything but listen to the songs. Using my upstairs computer is not an option anylonger because of this, even though I own the songs, I can't burn from the home sharing computer or move songs around on the play list, or view songs chosen (they are all checked by iTunes default).

ANYWAY. So sorry for your troubles.

I get it, it that is any consolation. Aimee

Hi GoodWorks,

Follow this link - someone might see your comment. Hard to say. I have a feeling, based on what others have said in this forum, that Apple pays little attention to this area where we voice our experiences, but that maybe someone will read what you have to say via this link. I too kept clicking, astounded at the level of stupidity in doing such a thing. Is someone having a good laugh at our expense - watching us through their little cameras on our computers as we click and click and click baffled. We are sheeple....

Thanks Aimee (no relation to one of my favorite singers Aimee Mann?),

I actually filled out the feedback form even before I made my post here. Wonder how much good it will do.

I bought my very first smartphone last month & decided to go with an iPhone 5 because I'd generally been happy with Apple products. Now I feel like I'm supporting a company that is either obtuse or actively disdainful regarding its customers. Sigh.

I accidently kicked off the iTunes update and helplessly watched it proceed, unable to cancel it from the App Store application. Within 5 minutes of using the new version of iTunes, I ran into the sorting problem. Delerium has 529 songs listed in the iTunes store, and I am looking for a particular version of "Silence". No sorting to group them. So much for buying music through the iTunes store. Apple really shot themselves in the foot with this one. When dealing with a huge amount of data, you'd think sorting functionality would be a no-brainer...

[Edit] just went to amazon, where you can sort by song name. Took less than 2 minutes to find what I am looking for. Got my song...
